I love March Madness! Before Spring Break, students filled out an NCAA Men's Bracket and when we returned they checked their choices with the official bracket. I then had students turn each round into a fraction and then converted that fraction to a decimal. Students compared fractions and decimals also. It was a great activity to get our brains back into action after a relaxing break!
We have state testing in three weeks. To review, I created stations that covered three of our big topics: Decimal Computation, Volume, and Problem Solving. I set the stations up in the Literacy Lounge so students had more room to work. Plus there are comfy work areas too :) I created an exit ticket for each station that the students had to complete before rotating to the next activity. For many of the questions, I used this site. Below are directions documents I created. The students did so well, I am going to continue with new stations the next two weeks as well!
In Socia Studies, we are finishing up our Branches of Government. We are going to have a mock trial next week, so to prepare, students played a game of Courthouse Go Fish. I love watching the students learn and play at the same time! Look at the smiles!
