After a 3-day weekend, we jumped right into the second quarter! In math, we started our new volume unit. To introduce the topic, we created cubes using nets and then filled them with with centimeter cubes. This was a great way for students to discover that they could count cubes or multiply the length, width, and height to find the volume. I used this free resource found here!
This class really caught on to volume, so they worked on challenge stations. I found activities on two of my favorite sites: Yummy Math and K-5 Math Teaching Resources. The students were critical thinkers and collaborators! I was so proud of them!
In Social Studies, our focus this past quarter was "How does the environment affect the population and how does the population affect the environment." Students did a great job demonstrating how ancient civilizations and Native American regions interacted with their environment during the Living Museum. I'm a very proud teacher!! Great job STEMtastic Students!!!!
