We had such a fun and exciting week at STEM Middle! Students created tie-dye shirts to wear at ReynFaire and at our Annual Fifth Grade Kickball Tournament. I have never tie-dyed, so I was learning along with the kids. They turned out great! Go Team Teal (and Team Gray)l!!
Our focus this year in Social Studies was the Western Hemisphere. We studied the history, economy, government, & geography of this region. I wanted my students to end the year by applying their knowledge of the Western Hemisphere to other countries in the world. Students chose their country and I was impressed by the diversity of cultures they chose. Check out the pictures below...can you guess where we traveled?
We have 3 Signature Events at STEM Middle: StemFest, Gallery Hop, and REYNFaire. REYNFaire is a modern version of a Renaissance Fair. The Fifth Graders were in charge of games. Students were to to research Renaissance games, summarize the history, create directions, and actually build and test the games. We collaborated with the Eighth Graders by giving out PBIS tickets to game winners. The PBIS tickets could be used at the REYN Market to purchase Renaissance-themed items. It was a great time!
